TPC Press Release

The prestigious TPC at Sherwood is fast approaching in the next few weeks. The TPC at Sherwood is one of Western Canada’s top 5 Pin Bowling tournaments. The tournament is being held November 7th to 9th at Sherwood Bowl in Sherwood Park. Last year, the tournament awarded over $40,000 in prize money to their bowlers. Over the last four seasons, over 495 of the top premier bowlers of Canada ranging from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland & Labrador have participated in the Western Bowling Tour’s events such as the TPC at Sherwood. The complete stats about the tour is can be found at www.5pinuniverse.ca

The tournament is well received stocked with very talented local laners. Some locals to be keeping an eye at for their run at the Championship:

Mark Johnstone: The 2011 Champion is always in the mix. After last season, he was rated the top bowler on the Western Tour. He has 5 National Championships to his resume, two perfect games, a TSN Pins Game Championship and 1 WBT Championship. Look for Mark to re-capture the title this season.

Jenn Baker: The 2013 Traditional Champion (Red Deer), and 2014 Regina Classic could be one of the most dynamic female bowlers to play in generations. Playing against men, she has an edge that not many can be matched. At only 21, she has already won 2 WBT titles, thrown a perfect game, having 5 National Championships. Jenn will be making a charge at capturing a title that has eluded her thus far on the WBT.

Aaron Arndt: The 2011 Traditional Champion and 2014 Scottdale Classic (Surrey, BC) Champion has been dominate in the last few years. Aaron is the only Tournament Master bowler to ever repeat as Men’s Singles Champion in the 50 year history of the historic event. Look for Aaron to keep on his winning ways, as he will try to capture his 1st TPC at Sherwood title.

Dexter Wiseman: The 2010 TPC Champion is looking to get back in the win column after a few close high finishes the last few years. The two time National Champion will be competing on his home turf, as this is the center he grew up and became established in. Dexter will try to take advantage of his home court advantage to take home his first TPC title since the tournament moved from Callingwood.

Matt Schultz: Matt won the Rose Bowl incredibly when he was 15 years of age. Matt has also won the 2013 version of the Autumn Open (Calgary), and has a Regina Classic title to his name. Back in 2010, Matt was the youngest bowler selected in the Top 50 Men of all time in the 5 Pin Bowling’s 100 Year Anniversary. The 7 time National Champion will be looking to add a 4th title to his amazing resume.

Bruce Morter: The “Wayne Gretzky” of 5 Pin bowling, Bruce is a legend of the sport. Bruce has captured an incredible amount of WBT & National Championships. Even though just recently retired, Bruce is still a threat, and is still one of the most feared bowlers to ever put on a pair of shoes.

Come down November 7th to 9th to Sherwood Bowl in Sherwood Park to catch some great bowling. The bowling is pressure packed and has a high intensity!

Tim Wiseman
